Rutland High School is undergoing the transition to Standards Based Learning because, put simply, we believe that our transition to Standards Based Learning will improve student learning. However, we are not alone in this thinking. Here is what the Vermont Agency of Education thinks and an explanation of how it ties in with recent education legislation.
PLEASE NOTE: Moving to Standards Based Learning takes time. We are expecting this to be a three-year transition. What is shown below is what we hope to accomplish during the 2014-2015 school year. However, please keep in mind that this plan is fluid. Some tasks may be accomplished faster than we anticipate and others will certainly prove more time consuming and difficult then we envision. Regardless of the challenges, we are making this shift and we are doing this because we believe it is best for our students' learning. (A big thank you to Jan Hoegh of the Marzano Research Laboratory for helping to formulate this plan specifically for Rutland High School and Rutand Middle School.)
